Abstract

Objective : The roots of Aconitum species have been believed to cure yang depletion syndrome, kideny-yang deficiency syndrome, and obstruction of qi in the chest syndrome and have been used in traditional Korean medicine mainly for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. As they are the substances with toxity, they are processed by using such processing materials as childrens’ urine, Gamdutang, wet-heating. So the purpose of this study is to select most efficient method by evaluating effects of various procesing method on the contents of aconitine.

Method : The contents of aconitine in the Aconitum plantswere determined by high performance liquid chromatography.

Results :

1. Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii contains twice amount of aconitine than Chun-Oh.

2. Contents of aconitine in Kyungpo-Buja, Buja-Kyungpo, childrens’ urine Buja, heuksoonpyeon are reduced by processing.

3. Content of aconitine in heuksoonpyeon is reduced the most.

Conclusion : Content of aconitine in heuksoonpyeon is reduced the most.
